someone has let you put your website on their internet server that is
connected to the internet 24 x 7. You pay a monthly or annual fee for
this service.
It is important that the design matches the hosting platform. This is a
common mistake. The server platform dictates what type of html editor
can be used, what programming languages can be used, and what services
are available to your website.
Make sure your business is compatible with the host's business. If you
are a Christian business you likely do not want to be hosted by a
company that hosts adult websites and the like. The size and mission of
your website dictates the size of the hosting company that makes the
best fit
Check the customer service functions and performance to make sure they
meet your expectations. Are they available by phone or email? Which do
you prefer?
